PhD in Astrophysics. Joint Astronomy Program, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
My research focuses on energetic transients. I work mainly on the bright and short-lived explosions called Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) and electromagnetic counterparts to Gravitational Wave events. I’ve recently dived into Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs), an exotic kind of cosmic signal, with a focus on their persistent radio emission. And more recently, I’ve hopped on the astronomy+ML bandwagon—because why not? I'm curious to see what machine learning can uncover in GRBs.
Transients are cool. If you haven't wandered off to xkcd yet, you can read more about my research in the next tabs.
I publish under my first name, following South Indian naming conventions. However, there are a few papers where I go by R. Lekshmi.
